When in Amsterdam there is one thing you can not miss, the canals and typical canal houses. Amsterdam has more than 100 kilometers of canals and over 1500 bridges. As a visitor you should absolutely rent a bike or just walk around all those ‘grachten’. You can also book a canal boat tour to enjoy the view of the houses from the water. The 3 main canals are; Keizergracht, Prinsengracht and Herengracht, well known as ‘Grachtengordel’. The ‘Singel’ is also one of the most popular canals, you will find a lot of hotspots over there and also the ‘Bloemenmarkt’, a flowting flower market. During summertime you will see a lot of Dutchies hanging around the canals. We love to spend our summerdays in the sun with a beer or some wine along the canal or at the Vondelpark. Every year in April we celebrate the birthday or our King. This event called, ‘Kingsday’ is one of the most popular events among the locals. The whole city is dressed in orange colors (our national color) and you will find boats with music/dj’s everywhere on the canals.
